Internet Finds – Stairway to Heaven Video

A fan (@Sana &N Mirza) on Stars in Symmetry fanpage on Facebook recently lead me to a video about Islamic artists who recreate the minbar of Saladin (Salahuddin Al-Ayubbi) that was destroyed in a fire in the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem during the 70’s. The video focuses on the history of the minbar itself, the events leading up to the reimagining and recreating it as well as following the mind behind the reconstruction as wellas the team of artisans who made it all happen.

Here is the link to the youtube video. Note that the video is about 45 minutes long – a standard of any documentaries. I would advice you to use a youtube downloader app (Chrome and Firefox each have its own array of third-party video download app, though not sure if IE or Safari have the same feature as well) so you can watch it at your own time and watch it again and again and plus, no loading time!

I have to thank Sana N Mirza on Facebook for showing me this great video. It shows the beauty of Islamic art and the meticulous craftmanship they exhibit, and also the human spirit and honest dedication that goes into this project. When I finished watching the movie I can’t help but to feel very humble and just awestruck…and knowing my readers I’m sure you will be too.
